SerpSpur vs Ahrefs: Pricing & Features Compared
- Post By: FAISAL MUSTAFA
- Published: October 26, 2026

SerpSpur vs. Ahrefs comes down to data depth versus budget. Ahrefs is the stronger choice for deep backlink and keyword data. SerpSpur is a streamlined, lower-cost alternative for startups, freelancers, and small teams.
As of the last updated price, SerpSpur Pro costs $49 per month, and Ahrefs Lite costs $129 per month.
Three things decide the winner. These are your budget, the depth of data you need, and how complex your SEO workflow is.
SerpSpur is the cheaper Ahrefs alternative when you want daily rank tracking, site audits, and client reports in one place. Ahrefs fits teams that run large backlink and keyword research.
Here is the catch. SerpSpur's own pricing page lists Ahrefs Lite at $99 per month. Ahrefs' official page says $129. This blog checks both tools against their official pages, so you know what is true before you pay.
You will find the verdict first. Then we cover how we checked the tools, eight head-to-head features, real costs, and who should pick which tool.
Quick Verdict
In the SerpSpur vs Ahrefs match-up, SerpSpur wins on price, daily tracking, and agency reporting. Ahrefs wins on backlink index size, keyword data and AI search research. SerpSpur suits freelancers and small agencies. Ahrefs suits research-heavy teams. Many teams use both.

These winners come from published plan data and limits. They are not lab results, and index sizes are self-reported. Our method section explains the limits.
What Each Tool Is (and Who It's Built For)
SerpSpur and Ahrefs both cover the main SEO tasks. They differ in how they price those tasks and how much data sits behind them. This section gives each tool a quick profile.
SerpSpur at a Glance
SerpSpur is an all-in-one SEO platform built for freelancers, small businesses and small agencies. It bundles an SEO audit tool, a daily rank tracker, site explorer, backlink tools, page speed checks and agency portals in one account.
- Credit-based pricing. Plans include monthly credits. You spend extra credits when you go past plan limits. SerpSpur says unused credits roll over forever.
- A real free plan. The Free plan costs $0. It includes one project, 100 credits and 10 daily tracked keywords. SerpSpur also lists 30+ free SEO tools.
- Own metrics. It reports Trust Rate and a Traffic Authenticity Index. SerpSpur calls both proprietary, so you cannot compare them directly with Ahrefs metrics.
- Built-in AI features. It tracks AI Overview risk in its rank tracker. It also checks brand mentions in AI engines and makes llms.txt files.
- Data source is unclear. SerpSpur calls its index "proprietary," but its Global Index page does not explain how the data is collected. We found no public answer on whether it uses its own crawler or a third-party source. Ask SerpSpur in writing before you rely on it for client reports.
Ahrefs at a Glance
Ahrefs is a large SEO data platform. It runs its own web crawler and says it operates the world's second-most active crawler. It serves freelancers, in-house teams, agencies and enterprises.
- Fixed plan tiers. Starter costs $29 per month. Lite costs $129. Standard costs $249. Advanced costs $449. Enterprise starts at $1,499 per month with an annual commitment.
- Strong research tools. Site Explorer, Keywords Explorer, Site Audit, Rank Tracker and Competitive Analysis come with Lite. Content Explorer starts on Standard.
- Credit and seat limits. Each plan includes one user. Extra users cost extra. Crawl credits and page caps rise by plan.
- Separate AI visibility product. Brand Radar starts at $199 per month. Lite also includes five tracked AI prompts.
- Strict billing terms. Ahrefs says it never runs discounts, though annual billing costs less. It does not issue refunds in general.
The Core Difference in One Paragraph
SerpSpur is a focused, usage-based toolkit. You get a low base price, then you spend credits on heavy tasks like big backlink pulls. Ahrefs is a deep-data subscription suite with fixed limits. You pay more up front, and the research data goes deeper. This is a question of fit, not of one tool beating the other everywhere.
How We Tested (Methodology)
This blog compares official pricing, limits and data pages. We did not run a hands-on lab test of keyword or rank accuracy, so we make no accuracy claims. That is the honest starting point for any SerpSpur review. Many short reviews skip it and still claim accuracy.
Projects and Setup
We checked each tool's public pages on October 13, 2026. For SerpSpur, that means the home page, pricing page, credit cost schedule and Global Index page.
For Ahrefs, that means the pricing page and the big data page. We also read third-party reviews and community threads to find the claims users repeat most. Plan levels compared were SerpSpur Free, Pro, and Agency, and Ahrefs Lite, Standard and Advanced.
What We Measured, and the Ground Truth We Used
Each row shows the area and the ground truth we treat as the standard. The last column shows what we could check without paid accounts.
Use the same ground truth when you run your own trial.

Limitations of Our Test
Our method has limits. You should know them before you act on any number in this blog.
- No hands-on accuracy test. We did not measure keyword difficulty or search volume accuracy against ground truth. We found no third-party test of that kind for SerpSpur.
- Self-reported index sizes. Both vendors publish their own data counts. Each vendor defines those counts in its own way.
- Prices change. SerpSpur shows struck-through prices on its plan cards. A third-party review from September 2026 listed a different Agency price than the live page shows today.
- One date only. Everything here reflects the last updated data.
Test Both Tools Yourself in 60 Minutes
You can run a fair test on your own sites in about an hour. Use the free plan on SerpSpur and the Ahrefs free tools first. Then follow these steps.
- Pick three sites you own and connect Google Search Console.
- Compare each tool's organic traffic estimate with real Search Console clicks for the same 28 days.
- Track the same 20 keywords in both tools. Check five of them by hand in a private window with the same location.
- Run a site audit on a site with about 200 pages. Compare the top 10 issues each tool finds with a Screaming Frog crawl.
- Pull a backlink gap against one competitor. Check 10 of the links by hand for relevance.
- Write down how many credits or dollars each step used.

Site Audits: Depth, Accuracy, and Prioritization
No single tool is the best SEO audit tool for every site. SerpSpur's crawler renders JavaScript, which helps on sites that load content with scripts. It flags 404s, 5xx errors, orphan pages, missing or long titles, thin content, and readability scores.
It also reports Core Web Vitals (LCP, CLS, INP, FCP and TTFB) and flags images over 150 KB.
Ahrefs gives you crawl credits and page caps by plan. Lite has 100,000 crawl credits and a 25,000 page cap per project. Standard has 500,000 credits and a 50,000 page cap.
Advanced has 1,500,000 credits and a 250,000 page cap. Ahrefs lists an always-on audit on its plans. The Project Boost Pro add-on speeds it up to 10 pages per minute for $20 per month per project.
- Free page scans on SerpSpur. Free includes 100 pages per month. Pro includes 20,000. The agency includes 100,000. Extra pages cost 1 credit each.
- Prioritisation is on you. Both tools can return long lists. Sort issues by crawl, index and traffic impact before you fix anything.
- Core Web Vitals on Ahrefs. Ahrefs' pricing page does not list them. Check in a trial if you need them.
Better fit on published data. SerpSpur for small sites that need JavaScript rendering and Core Web Vitals. Ahrefs for large sites with high page caps. Who it matters for. Technical SEOs and agencies auditing many client sites.
If you want a full process for acting on audit results, see why an SEO audit is the best way to optimize your site.
Rank Tracking: Update Frequency and Accuracy
Update frequency is the clearest difference here. SerpSpur is a daily rank tracker. Ahrefs lists weekly Rank Tracker updates on every plan. Daily rank tracking helps when you test changes fast or watch a volatile term.
- Keyword limits on SerpSpur. Free tracks 10 keywords daily. Pro tracks 100. Agency tracks 300. You can unlock extra tracking slots for 15 credits each, one time.
- Tracking depth on SerpSpur. The credit schedule lists top 10 on Free, top 50 on Pro and top 100 on Agency.
- Keyword limits on Ahrefs. Lite tracks 750 keywords. Standard tracks 2,000. Advanced tracks 5,000.
- Extra signals on SerpSpur. It tracks SERP features, People Also Ask boxes and AI Overview risk. It covers Google and Bing in 100+ countries.
We found no third-party accuracy test for either rank tracker. Check five keywords by hand before you trust either one.
Better fit on published data: SerpSpur for daily updates on a small list. Ahrefs for a much larger keyword list.
Who it matters for: Freelancers testing changes fast and agencies with many tracked terms.
Keyword Research and Data Accuracy
Ahrefs lists the bigger keyword index. It reports 29B filtered keywords, 110B keywords ever seen and 217 locations. It lists 392M keywords for Bangladesh. Standard adds keyword clusters, search intents and AI suggestions.
SerpSpur lists 12.5B keywords across Google and Bing. Pro unlocks 5,000 keywords. Agency unlocks 20,000. Extra regional keywords cost 250 credits per 1,000.
Keyword difficulty is a relative score in both tools. Treat it as a way to rank ideas, not as a promise. For search volume accuracy, compare each estimate with Search Console impressions on terms you already rank for.
Our blog on types of keywords in SEO explains how to sort your list.
Better fit on published data: Ahrefs for its larger listed database and more locations.
Who it matters for: Content teams and agencies that research many markets.
Backlink Data and Index Size
Backlink analysis depends on index size and freshness. Ahrefs lists a larger page index than SerpSpur.
Both numbers are self-reported, and the vendors count different things. The table shows each claim as published.

Do not compare these rows line by line. "Live backlinks" and "history records" are different units. Domain Rating and Domain Rank also use different scales.
The safest test is to run the same site through both and compare the referring domains each tool finds with your Search Console Links report.
SerpSpur includes a backlink gap analysis tool on Pro and Agency. It finds sites that link to your competitors but not to you. The credit schedule lists competitor gap analysis at 100 credits per query.
Fetching a backlink profile costs 500 credits per 1,000 links. Ahrefs lists Competitive Analysis on every plan. For link-building tactics, read our post on how to get high-quality backlinks.
Better fit on published data: Ahrefs for index size and history.
Who it matters for: Link builders and anyone doing deep competitor link research.
Competitor and Traffic Estimates
Both tools estimate competitor traffic. Estimates show direction, not exact visits. They are most useful for spotting which competitors and pages deserve a closer look.
- SerpSpur. It shows traffic value, paid vs organic keywords and traffic share by country. Free allows 1 competitor per project. Pro and Agency allow 3. Extra competitors cost 250 credits.
- Ahrefs. Its organic traffic index lists 545M keywords across 185 locations. Its paid index lists 12M paid keywords. Lite allows 20 competitors per project.
Always test traffic estimates against Search Console and GA4 on your own site first. If the tool is far off there, it will be off on competitors too. Our list of SEO benchmarks helps you decide which numbers matter.
Better fit on published data: Ahrefs for scale and competitor limits.
Who it matters for: Strategists who track many rivals.
AI Search and GEO Features
Both tools now cover AI visibility, but at different scales. This matters because AI Overviews and chat answers can take clicks even when your rank stays the same.
- SerpSpur. It flags AI Overview risk in its rank tracker. It checks brand citations in ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity at 75 credits per engine scan. It lists 338.4M prompts in its AI index.
- Ahrefs. Brand Radar lists 476M monthly prompts across six AI indexes. Lite tracks 5 prompts, Standard tracks 10 and Advanced tracks 20. Prompt packages start at $50 per month.
One note on llms.txt. SerpSpur makes llms.txt files. Google's AI optimization guide says you do not need llms.txt or other special AI files to appear in Google Search.
That includes AI Overviews and AI Mode, because Google Search does not use them. Treat that feature as optional for Google. Google's guide points you to the Generative AI performance report in Google Search Console to measure your AI visibility instead.
GEO and AI visibility is still a young field. Neither vendor publishes an accuracy test for its AI data. If you want the strategy side, read our posts on generative engine optimization and answer engine optimization.
Better fit on published data: Ahrefs for scale. SerpSpur for a low-cost start.
Who it matters for: Brands that want to see how AI engines mention them.
Reporting, Client Portals, and Agency Workflow
Agencies spend hours on client reports, so agency SEO tools should save that time. SerpSpur builds reporting into every plan. It connects Google Search Console and GA4 data, creates public view-only dashboards and exports white-label PDFs and CSV files. Sharing a project outside the free share limit costs 1,000 credits.
Ahrefs offers Report Builder with scheduling. Lite and Standard include 5 reports. Advanced includes 15. Advanced also adds a Looker Studio integration and an agency directory listing.
We could not confirm white-label branding on Ahrefs' pricing page. Check that before you commit if white-label reporting matters to you.
Better fit on published data: SerpSpur for client dashboards and white-label output.
Who it matters for: Agencies that send monthly reports to many clients.
Ease of Use and Support
Third-party reviews describe SerpSpur as simpler and Ahrefs as denser but deeper. Many of these reviews read like promotions, so try both interfaces yourself. The descriptions fit the product designs. Fewer menus help beginners. More tools help experts.
- Ahrefs support and billing. It offers a help center and email support. It accepts Visa, Mastercard, American Express and UnionPay. It has no contracts or setup fees, and you can cancel anytime.
- SerpSpur support and billing. It offers a help center, a community and a contact form. It says local currencies are available at checkout.
- Refunds. Ahrefs does not issue refunds in general. Check SerpSpur's refund policy before you pay.
Better fit on published data: It depends on skill.
Who it matters for: Beginners may prefer SerpSpur. Experienced SEOs may prefer Ahrefs.
Pricing: What You Actually Pay
As of updated data, SerpSpur costs $0 to $165 per month plus optional credit packs, while Ahrefs costs $29 to $449 per month before extra seats.
SerpSpur vs. Ahrefs pricing often decides the choice before any feature does, so SEO tool pricing deserves a close look. SerpSpur uses credit-based pricing on top of a low base fee. Ahrefs uses fixed tiers with higher entry prices.
Published Plans (as of Test Date)
Start with SerpSpur's plans, then see Ahrefs. SerpSpur shows struck-through prices of $125 for Pro and $255 for Agency.
The live prices are $49 and $165. Treat the struck-through numbers as marketing.

Every Ahrefs plan includes one user. Extra seats cost $40 each on Lite (up to 2 more), $60 on Standard (up to 5 more), and $80 on Advanced (up to 10 more). Annual billing costs less.
Ahrefs Starter at $29 per month is a separate entry plan. SerpSpur's pages we checked did not state a seat limit, so confirm team seats before you buy.
Cost Scenarios for Real Teams

Here is how we built each row.
- Solo freelancer. SerpSpur Pro is $49 per month. Ahrefs Lite is $129 per month.
- Small agency. SerpSpur Agency is $165 per month and covers 12 projects. Ahrefs Standard is $249 plus two extra seats at $60, which is $369 per month. Ahrefs lists projects with verified ownership as unlimited.
- Larger agency. SerpSpur Agency is $1,980 per year. Going from 12 to 30 projects needs 18 extra slots at 750 credits, which is 13,500 credits. That costs about $36 at the $40 pack rate. Ahrefs Advanced is $449 plus four extra seats at $80, which is $769 per month. Ahrefs lists API access on Advanced, and Enterprise has uncapped API access. We did not find SerpSpur's API credit costs.
Keep the limits in mind. SerpSpur updates daily and Ahrefs updates weekly, so the plans do not match exactly. Ahrefs also allows far more tracked keywords per dollar. In the larger agency case, 300 daily keywords across 30 clients is only 10 each. Extra tracking slots cost 15 credits each, so 600 more slots use 9,000 credits.
Credits can change the math. Suppose you pull 20,000 backlinks for one competitor on SerpSpur. That costs 10,000 credits, which equals the full Pro monthly allowance. Heavy link research is where SerpSpur's cost advantage shrinks.
For Bangladeshi teams, costs are in US dollars. Ahrefs takes international cards. SerpSpur says local currencies appear at checkout. Our post on why to invest in SEO in Bangladesh covers the business case for the spend.
Pricing Claims to Check Carefully
SerpSpur's pricing page includes a comparison table against Ahrefs. Several figures in it do not match Ahrefs' own page today. Verify any vendor comparison on the other vendor's official page.

The same caution applies to some SerpSpur claims. Its comparison lists "unlimited" daily tracked keywords, site audit pages and project slots. Its plan cards and credit schedule show limits.
Pro lists 100 daily tracked keywords. Pages beyond the free allowance cost 1 credit each. Extra project slots cost 750 credits. "Unlimited" means you can keep buying more with credits.
Where SerpSpur Wins
SerpSpur wins when budget, daily data, and simple reporting matter most. These are the strongest points in its favor.
- Price. Pro costs $49 per month against $129 for Ahrefs Lite. That gap adds up to $960 over a year.
- Daily tracking. It updates keywords daily on every plan. Ahrefs lists weekly updates.
- Flexible spending. Credits roll over and never expire. This helps when your workload changes from month to month.
- Agency reporting. Public dashboards, GA4 and Search Console sync, and white-label PDFs come with the plans.
- Free options. You get a free plan and 30+ free SEO tools to test before paying.
Where Ahrefs Wins
Ahrefs wins when research depth and data history decide the project. These are its strongest points.
- Data depth. It lists 494B indexed pages, 29B filtered keywords and 16 years of historical data.
- Backlink freshness. It says its backlink index refreshes every 15 to 30 minutes.
- Domain Rating. This is Ahrefs' own authority metric. If a client or link partner quotes it, you need Ahrefs to see it.
- AI visibility research. Brand Radar covers six AI indexes at a scale SerpSpur does not list.
- Known data source. Ahrefs explains that it runs its own crawler. SerpSpur does not publish this detail.
- Predictable limits. You pay a fixed price per plan, with clear caps and no credit math.
Which Tool Should You Choose?
Your choice depends on your work, not on which tool has more features. Use the lists below to match your situation. Then check the "use both" option.
Choose SerpSpur If...
SerpSpur fits teams that value low cost and fast reporting over raw data depth. Pick it if most of these points sound like you.
- You are a freelancer or small agency. The $49 and $165 plans cover the core tasks at a lower price.
- You need daily rank tracking. Daily updates come with every plan.
- You report to clients often. Dashboards and PDF exports save time every month.
- You want a cheaper SEO tool to test first. The free plan lets you try it with no card.
Choose Ahrefs If...
Ahrefs fits teams that spend most of their day in research data. Pick it if most of these points sound like you.
- Backlink research is your main task. The bigger listed index and longer history help here.
- You work with large keyword sets. Larger keyword limits and more locations help.
- You need Domain Rating. Only Ahrefs reports it.
- You want fixed costs. Plan caps are clear and credit math is not part of the deal.
When to Use Both
Many teams get the best value from a split. Use Ahrefs for link and competitor research. Use SerpSpur for daily tracking and client audits, if the combined cost is worth it for you. You can also subscribe to Ahrefs for one month when a big link or keyword project starts.
Ahrefs has no contracts, so you can cancel anytime. Google Search Console stays free and should sit beside both.
Semrush is another large suite worth a trial if you want broader marketing tools, but this blog did not test it.

Final Thoughts

Start with the free plan and a 60-minute test on your own sites. Then pick the tool that matches the work you do every week.
